Helena Norberg-Hodge
Helena Nordberg-Hodge, a pioneer, author and global speaker of the new economy movement, and the founder and director of the international non-profit organisation, Local Futures, as well as the convenor of World Localization Day (endorsed by the Dalai Llama and Noam Chomsky). She is the author of the seminal book, Ancient Futures, as well as Local is Our Future and producer of the award-winning documentary The Economics of Happiness. She is the founder of the International Alliance for Localisation, and a cofounder of the International Forum on Globalization and the Global Ecovillage Network.
Helena is a widely respected analyst of the impact of the global economy and international development on local communities, local economies, and personal identity, and is a leading proponent of ‘localisation’, or decentralisation, as a means of countering those impacts. She is a recipient of the Alternative Nobel prize, the Arthur Morgan Award and the Goi Peace Prize for contributing to “the revitalization of cultural and biological diversity, and the strengthening of local communities and economies worldwide. Helena has lectured in universities around the world including Oxford, Harvard, Tokyo, Stockholm, Munich, Melbourne and Berkley.
