A Taste of 'Warm Data' - with Nora Bateson
In this workshop, Nora Bateson will introduce you to Warm Data.
Grounded in over a century of deep theoretical roots and a lineage of systems thinking, the Warm Data practices transform complexity science into an experiential approach of profound mutual learning and relationship building.
“There are unexpected possibilities that await in another order of parallel approaches. There is a territory of communication, relationships and daily living that allows for a total change—it is within reach, but not in the solutions currently being reached for.” - Nora Bateson
“Warm Data” is the transcontextual information about and within the interrelationships that integrate elements of a complex system. Complex, systemic challenges are shaped by the interaction of multiple contexts—the economy, nature, politics, culture, technology, etc. —and in order to effectively address such challenges, we have to understand the transcontextual interdependence.
In this session, Nora Bateson will delve into an exploration rooted in theories that are often overlooked - elements of systems thinking that inform Warm Data. Participants will also get a taste of this through their involvement in a Warm Data Lab, experiencing new kinds of unscripted and unexpected conversations that open fresh perceptions toward emerging territories of responsiveness, where the value lies in relationships. These transcontextual conversations open up opportunities for unprecedented possibilities, unveiling the illusions of independence and expanding our sensitivities to the entanglements of our living systems.

Transforming Self, Transforming Systems: Wellbeing Economics with Dr Julia Kim
Reconnecting with our true Nature: Bhutan's GNH - Transforming Self, Transforming Systems'
- What would it take to create a world where economic systems are designed to support the wellbeing of all life?
- What does our inner state of mind have to do with the sider systems we create?
- How can we work towards deep transformation (without burning out in the process)?
Join us for this interactive exploration at the interface of inner wellbeing & Wellbeing Economics, led by Dr. Julia Kim (Program Director of GNH Centre in Bhutan).
In this workshop we will take a deep dive into Bhutan’s GNH (Gross National Happiness) model and other wellbeing economy approaches. Through a series of reflective exercises and creative activities, including interactive storytelling, group reflections, and sound meditation with violin, we will explore how these models can be applied to both personal and collective transformation.
Participants will assess their own individual and community well-being, engage in practices that cultivate inner peace and leadership, and experiment with how the creative play of music, meditation, and improvisation can inspire and inform the challenging work of transforming both self and systems.
Through this unique blend of personal reflection and collective learning, we will envision practical steps for integrating the principles of GNH into our lives and communities, with a focus on how these practices can lead to meaningful, sustainable change.

'Elevating Consciousness' with Alexander Beiner
'We are Nature' is an easy concept to grasp intellectually. Our bodies are made of the same atoms as trees and stars, and we rely on the energy of the sun just like the rest of life on earth.
But knowing this and feeling it are very different. To find new insights and explore new ways to tackle the many crises we face at this time in history, knowing isn't enough; we have to learn how to embody our connection to the world, to make it a deeper aspect of who we are, what we want, and where we're going.
In this workshop, Alexander Beiner will introduce key theoretical frameworks that underpin 'We are Nature', drawing on cognitive science, philosophy and plant medicine research.
We'll then build on those frameworks to engage in practices like somatic inquiry, breathwork and group dialogue to embody the deepest aspects of nature within us.
You'll experience how your nervous system doesn't end at your fingertips, but stretches out into your environment.
You'll learn how to breathe in a way that sharpens your sensemaking, and how active listening can help us find new patterns in the natural world.
By the end of the workshop, you'll walk into the conference not thinking you're part of nature, but feeling it in your bones.
This will be an intimate group with limited spots only so reserve your spot now.

'Hope in Action' - an exclusive tour of Melbourne Zoo with CEO Jenny Gray
How might we reimagine or remind ourselves of our inter-dependent relationship with nature?
What possibilities emerge when we collectively embrace a mindset seeing ourselves as part of nature rather than separate from it?
Living with Wildlife is about people power. Victoria's wildlife and ecosystems need our support to build resilience in a rapidly changing world. Within adversity lies the seeds of opportunity for innovation.
Zoos Victoria is a world-leading zoo-based conservation organisation on a transformative journey, placing ‘joy’ and ‘meaning’ at the heart of everything they do. Through joy and meaning, we can harness a collective passion for conservation, fostering a brighter future for wildlife and communities alike.
Join Dr Jenny Gray, CEO of Zoos Victoria, alongside visiting guest Dr. Peter Apell from the Jane Goodall Institute in Uganda, for a day of joy and meaning as we explore how Hope in Action is ensuring a future rich in wildlife. Along with her team of Wildlife Conservation and Science Experts, journey behind the scenes at Melbourne Zoo for a unique and exclusive opportunity to experience the largest breeding and recovery programs for Critically Endangered wildlife within Victoria. Learn firsthand about the recovery efforts directly preventing extinction and ultimately recovering species in the wild.
This immersive ‘wild life in the heart of Melbourne’ will empower you with knowledge, encouraging your own capacity for change as a conservationist and in your communities. As we work towards a future rich in wildlife, we celebrate and share each victory as a source of hope, encouraged by what we can achieve when we work together.

Warm Data Lab Melbourne with Nora Bateson
Warm data has to do with how multiple stories come together, into a density of experience that manifests in a myriad of tones, textures, scenes etc, that surround our everyday life. To look closely at what’s going on around us as a chance to see the wider arcs of story that we are a part of, offering a means for us to explore how we would like to be a part of how these stories continue, grow, end, or transition.
